Ombak Rindu (The Novel)

Right now I’m sooooo excited with the movie "Ombak Rindu"!! It is based on one of my favorite novel with the same title, Ombak Rindu or in English ‘The Wave of Miss’??? Why do I feel that the English translation is less romantic than the Malay title?? Haha!!

I will blog about the movie in my other entry and now it’s time for the novel!! Ombak Rindu….the title itself shows us how romantic it will be…hehe.. I read Ombak Rindu when it was first published. I think it was 9 years ago, when I was still in school. And believe me; it was so popular at school given that my school was only for girls. Well, girls love romantic stuff, haha!!

So, what is this popular novel all about?

Synopsis:

IZZAH adalah seorang gadis yatim piatu yang kematian orang tua mereka akibat kemalangan jalan raya. Justeru itu, pak saudaranya, Taha mengambil tugas memelihara Izzah. Isteri Taha tidak senang dengan kehadiran Izzah dan menuduh Izzah membawa bencana dalam keluarga.

Pak cik Taha banyak berhutang. Disebabkan kesempitan wang dia sanggup menjual anak saudaranya itu kepada seorang tauke kelab malam. Izzah terpaksa mengikut kehendak pak saudaranya walaupun hatinya tidak rela.

Di situlah dia telah berkenalan dengan seorang pelanggan bernama Hariz. Hariz telah membeli Izzah dengan harga yang mahal dari tauke kelab itu dan membawa dia keluar dari neraka jahanam itu. Di atas permintaan Izzah, akhirnya Hariz berkahwin dengan Izzah tetapi dengan syarat semuanya mesti dirahsiakan.

Kehadiran Mila Amylia, anak Tan Sri Rashdan, iaitu model dan pelakon terkenal tanahair menggugat cinta Izzah yang mula berputik kepada Hariz. Dapatkah Izzah menerima Mila Amylia sebagai madunya? Bahagiakah rumah tangga yang dibina di atas kehadiran orang lain? Bagaimanakah tindakan Datuk Sufiah setelah mengetahui cerita sebenarnya?

English Translation:

Izzah was an orphan who lost both her parents in a tragic accident. Her uncle, Taha then took care of her. Taha’s wife hated Izzah and considered her as a taboo in the family. Izzah’s pitiful life turned worst when Uncle Taha sold her to a club’s owner to settle his debts.

Fate brought her to meet a customer named Hariz who then bought Izzah at a very expensive price. He took her out of that awful place. Izzah begged Hariz to marry her since she does not want to commit sins in their unmarried relationship. Hariz agreed but with one important condition; everything is a secret!

Then Mila Amylia came into the picture. She was one popular model and actress who loved Hariz and wanted him for herself. Can Izzah accept Mila Amylia as the other wife? Will they find happiness in their marriage? What if Datuk Sufiah knows everything?

Yes, this is a story of love that blossomed between these two as they started to know each other. Izzah, the beautiful, gentle woman…who won’t fall for her? I’m not really into a cry baby heroin, though. I mean she’s just too kind, too gentle, too sweet to the point of not knowing how to protect herself.

But, it’s a novel!! The main girl needs to be with that kind of personality (just like the typical Nang’ek in lakorn…hehe). And honestly, I’m so happy that nowadays I can find novels with much stronger heroin. But let’s not talk about it here (talk???), I’ll blog about them in other entries…hehe

As for Hariz…hmmmm, Hariz, Hariz…..he’s definitely your typical bad-boy!!! Clubbing, alcohols, sleeping with girls….that’s his life. A total opposite to Izzah. So when it comes to good girl like Izzah, his own wife…his experience with girls went from 100 to 0 as in ZERO. He just doesn’t know how to handle her. And so, these two opposite characters gets into opposite attraction and then…tada!!!! It’s a LOVE between them!!! Yes, they fall deeply in love with each other.

But what’s a love story without some obstacle here and there, isn’t it? Owh, don’t worry, the ending was one sweet happy ending…=)

Actually, there are second part of Ombak Rindu with the title 'Cinta....Tiada Akhirnya' and the third part ‘Rindu Cintaku’. Among these three, I prefer Ombak Rindu more. There are just too many conflicts in Cinta Tiada Akhirnya and Rindu Cintaku. And me being ME……I’ve always stick to simplicity...hehe
