Hatiku di Harajuku (My Heart in Harajuku)

For those who love thriller novels, the novelist Ramlee Awang Murshid must be familiar with you. Yes, he is one of the most popular Malay thriller novelists in Malaysia. Upon mentioning his name, you’ll immediately remember ADAM (Aku Darah Anak Malaysia), Ranggau, Tombiruo, Mandatori and some other his works.

As for me, I’m not the type of person who loves thriller novels. Well, I do read lots of John Grisham’s (I basically grew up with his novels) but when I started to read historical romance genre, it seems that I just stopped reading thrillers. And on top of that, I don’t read Malay thriller novels. I love Malay romance novels, though. I guess my exception goes to Ramlee Awang Murshid’s list of novels. I’ve read some of them and the latest one would be ‘Hatiku di Harajuku’.

Basically what is this novel all about?

Synopsis:

English Translation

Ryu-Watanabe was not a blessed man, or at least that was exactly what he thinks. He was born in prison and grew up in an orphanage. Tired with his chaotic life, he left for Japan where he joined a yakuza clan and became a deadly samurai. Crimes and killings were his way of life and his game; and the end of his game was DEATH.

He fell in love with Noriko, the daughter of the clan leader. Their love story and their yakuza clan grabbed the attention of Sabrina who wanted to know more about Ryu-Watanabe and his Noriko. She went to Tokyo with Murni in search of the famous Ryu-Watanabe.

Will they find Ryu-Watanabe? Who is the real Ryu-Watanabe? Is he regrets of joining the yakuza clan and became a samurai?

- End of English translation-

So, for those who wanted to read Malay thriller novels, I highly recommend it to you. You will love the suspense feeling and you will be absorbed into the characters of the mysterious Ryu-Watanabe, the vengeful Noriko and the innocent Sabrina.
